With a mixture of educational spaces, offices, conference rooms, MEP systems, and laboratory space, ISU’s VDL offered a diverse selection for photography. The facility was on the precipice of students starting classes and we would not be permitted to photograph after that point, so we had a tight timeline for production and limited numbers of folks to include in our imagery. With the help of a few students and the production crew standing in, we were able show the function and scale of each space and how Strang’s design intent helped create an optimal educational VDL facility. See the architectural photography Crimson Sun Studios created for Zebradog to share this design success at the UW Health Transplant Center with the world. The primary goal of this space is to engage visitors both in their arrival and navigation of the center, and with the selfless donors who have helped save lives through the years. We show use and function of the design by having people interact with Zebradog’s unique design elements. This shines even deeper in video, where the addition of time and motion is added to visual elements in bringing the story of function and accessibility to the viewer.
