fashion portrait production | madison reading project

For this shoot, we were supporting Madison Reading Project through fashion-inspired portraits of their models and dress designs. This behind-the-scenes video shows a bit from the production and what went into our setup. We were working in a smaller meeting room at the Madison Concourse Hotel, working beside teams prepping the last pieces of their designs. We brought in a compact wall setup with hardwood flooring as our on-location set and worked for an open-and-vibrant lighting configuration.

composite photography | “crisis scene”

This behind-the-scenes video shows the production and post-production that was involved in creating this composite image. Shown is the quick setup of lighting and camera gear, photographing the subjects and vehicles, blending those layers together in Photoshop, manipulating parts of the scene and replacing the sky, as well as adding smoke, ambient light, and selective blur to the final image.

composite photography | “Cruising”

Behind the scenes video and screen capture of a composite image for marketing your business, marketing your brand, or marketing yourself. This image was a creative idea that I brought to REACH-A-Child, a non-profit in Madison, WI. They loved the idea, so we scheduled a production date and reserved some warehouse space to photograph in. At the beginning of the video, you'll see the production of photographing the ambulance in the warehouse. I used a technique of light-painting with my studio flash to create a sequence of images that I could blend together in Photoshop. We photographed each individual separately so I had more freedom in post-production to add and change things. The background image is of Wisconsin's capitol building in downtown Madison. Once the ambulance was fully composited together, I brought that over to the background image and began blending everything together. Total, post-production took close to 8 hours.
